Willow Conical Plant Support/Pea Stand 7 May 2011   07/05/2011   Click Here To Book

with Clive Lyttle of Welig Crafts

Welig Crafts is run by basket makers and countryside skills practitioners Clive Lyttle and Elaine Burke who live and work near Portaferry Co. Down.  On their smallholding they grow willow and hazel for their work, where they also run many workshops and demonstrations.  They have a wide breadth of experience nurtured over many years of making, demonstrating and teaching their crafts.  Why not come along and try something new at Derrynoid!

On this course we will be constructing a garden plant support, great for sweet pea, runner beans or some other annual climbers.  The structure will be made using a pre-drilled template, with large willow uprights and lighter weavers.  The templates are placed on the floor and some low weaving and bending is required to start the structure off.

The pea stand course will cater for eight students and materials costs are £8 per head for sorted and soaked willow.
