Bead Weaving 5 - 6 November 2010   06/11/2010   Click Here To Book

with Unagh McCullough

In this course students will have the opportunity to try out various bead weaving stitches and will be encouraged to experiment with colour choice.  This technique differs from stringing in that the beads are being used to weave a 'fabric'. There are many different stitches - peyote, netting, brick, right angle weave, herringbone, spiral rope and Dutch spiral.  An item may be made out of one, two or more of these stitches and it should be possible to finish a project of the students own choice within the weekend - necklace or bracelet.  Those more advanced may want to try out various techniques and create something original.

A wide range of samples will be available for reference and inspiration.  All necessary materials will be available for purchase from the tutor, allow £5 - £10 per piece depending on your choice of project.  Students are required to bring a pair of sharp scissors.

Unagh has been doing all kinds of crafts for as long as she remembers.  She has two City & Guilds certificates, one in Fashion Design and the other in Lace Making.  She also holds an adult teaching certificate, and at present is two thirds her way through a diploma in Crochet.  Unagh currently teaches Bobbin Lace Making, Beadwork, Box Making, Crochet and Tatting.
